Project Showcase: Transforming a Riverside Basement at Sevenoaks

Nestled near the serene River Darent, the basement at TN13 2SJ posed unique challenges due to its location and recurring dampness issues. Our team was entrusted with the task of converting this lower-level space into a dry, functional, and aesthetically pleasing area.

Effective Waterproofing: To combat the persistent moisture from the nearby river and the property’s lower elevation, we employed a comprehensive waterproofing solution. Cavity Drain Membranes, integrated with drainage channels, formed the backbone of our strategy. These channels were meticulously designed to connect to a specially constructed soakaway in the garden, ensuring efficient water management.

Interior Transformation: Our commitment to excellence extended beyond waterproofing. We installed Cavity Drain Membrane on the sub-concrete and screeded the floor, creating a stable and dry foundation. The walls received a makeover, with the installation of battens, plasterboard, and a smooth skim finish, meeting the precise aesthetic preferences of our client.

Condensation Control: In response to the client’s request, we integrated a condensation control fan into the space, ensuring optimal air quality and comfort.

Lime Buildup Prevention: To safeguard the drainage channels from lime buildup, the walls were treated with a lime inhibitor before the Cavity Drain Membrane installation, guaranteeing long-term functionality.

Maximizing Space: Recognizing the value of every inch of usable space, we ingeniously constructed additional shelving in the void between the ceiling and wall, meeting the client’s desire for increased storage.

The project tands as a testament to our expertise in waterproofing, structural enhancement, and our unwavering commitment to tailoring solutions that not only address challenges but also enhance the overall usability and aesthetic appeal of the space.
