Basement Waterproofing for Retail Space in Dulwich

We recently completed a basement waterproofing project for a shop in Dulwich, which was later fitted out for a client who owns a clothing brand. The goal was to create a clean, dry, and visually appealing space suitable for retail storage and back-of-house use.

Waterproofing System Installed:
For this project, we used a combination of two membranes—a standard cavity drain membrane along with a mesh-faced membrane. This allowed us to deal with the structural conditions of the basement while giving us flexibility in how the final finishes could be fixed.
The mesh membrane was particularly useful on the walls where the client wanted a neat finish, as it provides a stable surface for fixing materials.

Creating a Clean, Finished Look:
Once the waterproofing system was fully installed, sealed, and drained, we completed the space with a plywood finish. This gave the basement a warm, tidy, and modern look—perfect for a clothing brand that wanted its storage and workspace to feel organised and professional.

Results:
The combination of the two membrane types provided the durability and drainage performance needed, while the plywood cladding transformed the basement into a practical, attractive area ready for everyday use by the client’s team.
