Emergency Cellar Waterproofing at Egerton Hotel, Kensington

We were recently called out to the Egerton Hotel in Kensington for an urgent waterproofing job in their cellar—the area housing all of the hotel’s electricity consumer units and essential services. Because water had begun to affect this space, the hotel couldn’t safely welcome guests, so this became a priority project that needed immediate attention.

A Challenging Emergency Situation:
Working in a live hotel environment is always challenging, but this situation required even faster coordination. We had to move quickly, manage the space safely, and ensure the electrical infrastructure remained protected throughout the process. Timing was critical, and the hotel needed the cellar back up and running as soon as possible.

Waterproofing System Installed:
To provide a reliable and long-term solution, we installed a full Type C cavity drain system. This was the most suitable choice for dealing with active water ingress while allowing us to protect the electrical systems. The membrane was carefully fitted around the existing services, sealed, and connected into a drainage route that keeps the space fully controlled.

Outcome:
Thanks to the rapid installation and the efficiency of the Type C system, the hotel was able to return to normal operation without further delays. The cellar is now protected, dry, and safe—giving the hotel peace of mind and preventing recurring moisture issues in a critical service area.
